About ASW2

No two people are alike. So why is all education basically the same? In fact, education hasn't changed much in character in the last hundred or more years, yet the social landscape today is far more fluid and dynamic than the past. ASW2 speaks to today's educational needs and offers a real educational choice, high quality online GCSE and A Level courses from one of the UK's top independent schools. Using the vast resources and ever evolving power of the internet and the expertise of top teachers we are able to deliver quality independent school education to your nearest online computer wherever you live.

ASW2 is the UK's first-and still the only- fully online school for GCSE and A Level education. In 1998 Southbank International School, a successful ISC accredited and ECIS member independent school in London began an ambitious project to explore the uses of online learning. Over the next two years we gained intensive first hand experience and spent a great deal of time evaluating our mistakes and successes. By late 1999 we realised that we had gained sufficient experience to create an online school and pioneer new ways of learning and teaching. We had a vision of how to provide innovative educational services with real benefits to students. In October 2000 we began a major programming project with Magpie, innovative software developers, to create a state of the art online school.

At the same time we commissioned hand picked, highly experienced teachers to develop innovative web learning materials. Our resources remain the most fully comprehensive available, designed to be full courses rather than supplement classroom learning taking place elsewhere. In January 2003 we officially opened the virtual doors to our pioneering online school offering 6 online A level subjects. In February 2004 we launched 6 online IB subjects for use in registered IB centres. In September 2005 we added 2 new A level subjects and yet more are planned. We now offer Two GCSE courses in English and Maths and nine A Level Subjects. ASW2 is committed to using rapidly developing web technologies to pioneer new and innovative teaching and learning strategies to benefit our students.

National press articles about ASW2 and our students have appeared in The Daily Telegraph and The Independent. We have also had quite detailed success Stories printed in many local papers, Prima magazine and specialist magazines for the Armed forces. Please contact us for further details.
